How to Build Habits That Last (Even When You're Busy)

If you feel like you're always busy, always stretched thin, and like "one more thing" will break you...
I get it. I’ve been there.

When I started my transformation journey, I wasn’t living some Pinterest-perfect life with unlimited free time.
I was a busy wife, mom, entrepreneur, and woman trying to keep up with everything—and still take care of myself.

The truth?
Success didn’t come because I suddenly had more time.
It came because I learned how to make time work for me through simple, sustainable habits.

Today, I’m sharing the exact mindset shifts and tools that helped me lose 70 pounds, grow my businesses, and stay consistent—without feeling like I was drowning.

Spoiler alert: It’s all about how you build your habits, not how busy you are.

Focus on Systems, Not Willpower

Most people think success is about willpower.
It’s not. It’s about systems.

When life gets crazy, willpower disappears. Systems don’t.

That’s why I focus on building automatic habits that I don’t have to think about—even on the busiest days.

Ask yourself:

  • How can I make this easier for my future self?

  • How can I remove decisions, not add more?

Example: Pre-tracking meals in the morning → no decision fatigue at 5PM.
Example: Setting workout clothes out the night before → no morning negotiation.

Time Block Like a Boss

Time blocking literally changed my life. 🗓

Instead of hoping I’d “find time” to work out, plan meals, or follow up with clients… I scheduled it like an appointment.
If it’s not scheduled, it doesn’t happen. Period.

My simple time-blocking strategy:

  • 15 minutes daily to plan (morning or night)

  • 30–45 minutes for workouts (protected like any meeting)

  • Dedicated work blocks (no multitasking)

  • Boundaries for family time and personal time

It doesn't have to be rigid—it just has to be intentional.

The most freeing thing you'll ever do for yourself is control your calendar before it controls you.

Master the Art of Micro Habits

Big changes don’t happen from big, dramatic moves.
They happen from small, consistent steps that compound over time.

If you’re too busy to “do it all,” good.
Start smaller. Start smarter.

Examples of micro habits that changed my life:

  • Adding a 10-minute walk after dinner

  • Drinking a full glass of water before coffee

  • Prepping protein for the week on Sundays

  • Doing a 20-minute strength workout instead of nothing

  • Reviewing goals for 2 minutes every morning

Consistency > Intensity.
Always.

Give Yourself Permission to Pivot

You will not be perfect.
There will be crazy days. Sick kids. Business fires. Exhausting weeks.

The old me would have said, "Well, I blew it. Might as well give up."
The new me says, "Okay. Let's adjust."

Pivoting is not quitting. It's adapting—and that's what leads to real, lasting success.

Give yourself grace and stay committed to the bigger vision.

You don’t need more hours in the day.
You need better habits—and a system that works with your real life, not against it.

When you build simple, sustainable routines, even the busiest seasons can't knock you off track.
That’s how real transformation happens.

If you’re ready to stop starting over and start building a lifestyle that fits your busy life, not fights it—let’s do it together.
